Not very much has happened during this period - in fact overall almost 2 years has been spent moving (inc. looking, selling, renting temporarily & buying) & having a replacement hip operation. Very little has been accomplished on the art/design side of things & is one of the reasons for having the studio relocated. Anyway below summarises what has taken place.
Jan - June '17: This time was spent boxing up possessions ready for a house move, looking at houses to find one & preparing myself (with hospital visits) for a replacement hip operation. A huge surprise to me as I thought the pain had been from my back!
June - Dec '17: Moving into temp accommodation, the final move, having the hip op & recovering from it.
Jan - June '18: Getting on top of the house move, finding everything I'd thought I'd lost & preparing for a studio move!! Also managed to get a few digital things underway - one being the Stitcherydoodaa website where everything of the digital past is finally being put "under one roof".
July - Sept '18: Website continues along with varied sewing alterations + much thought given to ideas of the studio. Soon to begin is the moving of it all with books being first to come into the house in a dedicated library. Yippee!!
Sept - Oct '18: Was introduced to Somerset Arts Week (actually over 2 weeks at the end of Sept) by a friend ... it was wonderful to discover a variety of artists & their work - definitely something I'm considering for the future. Also my books are on their new shelves although I've had to get rid of some to accommodate all the main ones I want to keep! The new studio is well underway & now just pending finishing windows/doors .... although there appears to be a delay here! Then it will be a huge task of refilling all cupboards etc etc. I'm so looking forward to working in it & because of its location, will be much more inspirational for creative work. So many ideas I just want to get back on track & underway especially if I become a SAW member.
Nov - Dec '18: Such a disappointing end of year & past couple of months!!! The new studio windows & doors installation nose-dived behind schedule ... according to the company: "a measurement at the building stage (hmmm!) caused a calculation mistake with the main door size being made too large". The outcome of this was a folding glass door panel was unsuccessfully cut down & then had to be re-ordered in the run-up to Xmas!! A delay of several weeks with a result that nothing could be put into the studio & organised before New Year as originally planned. The bulk of the old studio (all equipment, textiles, reference material etc) sits waiting in boxes pending its final resting place.
